About this event
The Earth lies in deep shadow. With so many crises occurring at the same time, many of us feel lost and fearful.
At times of crisis, we typically find ourselves facing the uncomfortable choice of whether to return to how things were or to embrace change so that we emerge anew.
It is understandable that we often yearn for a return to the familiar, even when business as usual threatens to destroy our very existence – as in the case of the climate emergency.
The scale of the present and coming danger means that we have little choice but to undergo a process of collective metamorphosis. Navigating these changes will be hard.
In the upcoming session of We Contain Multitudes, Joanna Monaghan and James Scurry will explore how we can become the change we want to see and create the conditions for the painful but necessary journey of transformation. In a free-flowing participative conversation, we will reflect on how our ‘inner’ crises are linked to our ‘outer’ crises, and how in order for our societies to truly change we must be willing to embark on the journey to change ourselves.
Joanna Monaghan and James Scurry from Safely Held Spaces will draw on their Compass publication The Great Slowdown.
